Raja club is the champion of Arab clubs at the expense of Al Ittihad Jeddah
Yesterday, Saturday, Moroccan club Raja achieved the Mohammed VI Cup for Arab Champions Clubs, at the expense of Al Ittihad Jeddah, by penalty shootout 4/3, after the end of the original time with a draw 4/4, for the second time in its history, and after 15 years of the first title in 2006.
The meeting was hosted by Moulay Prince Abdullah Stadium in the Moroccan capital. His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, President of the Arab Union and His Excellency the Moroccan Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, and President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation participated in the coronation.
Al-Ittihad had advanced early with a goal in the fourth minute, scored by Bruno Henrique, then Raja equalized quickly in the fifth minute through Elias Haddad, then Raja advanced by Mahmoud Benhalib in the 13th minute, before Al-Ittihad equalized by Ricardo da Silva in the 28th minute through a penalty kick.
Zakaria El Wadry scored Raja’s third goal in the 37th minute, ending the first half with a 3-2 lead for Raja.
In the second half, Sofiane Rahimi scored Raja’s fourth goal in the 50th minute, but Ricardo da Silva quickly returned with the third and fourth goals for Al-Ittihad in the 53rd and 64th minutes, respectively, to reach the hat-trick.
The two teams resort to penalty kicks, during which Raja Sofiane Rahimi, Mohamed Zuraida, Abdelilah Hafezi, Omar Arjoun and Abdelelah Madkour missed, while Al-Ittihad Ricardo da Silva, Igor Cornado, Abdelelah Al-Maliki, Wasted Bruno Henrique, and Fahd Al-Mawlid scored.
