Former Saudi National Team Player Saleh Al Mohammadi: “Khaleeji 27” Will Witness Strong Competition

The former Saudi national team player Saleh Al Mohammadi expressed his great appreciation for participating in the draw ceremony of the 27th Arabian Gulf Cup, which was held on Tuesday evening at Culture Square within the Art Center of the Red Sea International Film Festival in Historic Jeddah.

Al Mohammadi stated: “The Gulf Cup holds a unique status within Gulf football and has played a significant role in advancing the game across the region from both technical and administrative perspectives, in addition to contributing to infrastructure development. He noted that the tournament has helped Gulf national teams progress toward continental achievements and international participation, while also serving as a platform for the emergence of numerous talented players throughout previous editions.”

He further emphasized that Khaleeji 27 is expected to witness strong competition, considering the technical readiness of the participating national teams and the presence of several players who have delivered outstanding performances in recent periods.

The former Saudi national team star also extended his appreciation to the Gulf Cup Football Federation, headed by His Excellency Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani, praising the Federation’s ongoing efforts in developing the tournament and maintaining its distinguished status across every edition. He added that the 27th edition in Jeddah is expected to deliver an exceptional experience for Gulf football audiences.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will host the tournament from September 23 to October 6, 2026, in the city of Jeddah, across King Abdullah Sports City and Prince Abdullah Al Faisal Stadium. This marks the first edition of the tournament to be hosted in Jeddah, within a comprehensive operational and organizational framework that reflects the Kingdom’s rapid progress in hosting major sporting events.
