UAE’s Mabkhout breaks the record of his compatriot Fahd Khamis

By scoring three goals against the Yemeni team on the first day of the 24th Gulf Cup, Emirati Ali Mabkhout became the historic UAE’s scorer in the Gulf Cup, beating the team’s star in the 1980s and 1990s Fahd Khamis.

Mabkhout scored the first hat-trick in the tournament to reach number 11 in the history of UAE in the Gulf championships, ahead of Fahd Khamis, the historical star of Al Wasl.

Mabkhout scored for the first time in the Gulf tournaments in the 21st edition (Bahrain in 2013) in a game against Qatar.

In the 22nd edition in Saudi Arabia, he scored five goals, four of them in the group stage, and a goal against Oman in the match for the third place.

In the 23rd Gulf Cup held in Kuwait, he scored a penalty against Oman in the group stage.
