With the participation of 5 Gulf teams…the round of 16 in the 2023 Asian Cup begins tomorrow

The round of 16 of the Asian Cup Qatar 2023 begins tomorrow, Sunday, after the conclusion of the group stage matches last Thursday.

One of the most prominent matches in the round of 16 will be the one between Saudi Arabia and the Republic of Korea, as Saudi Arabia has previously won the continental title three times, compared to two titles for the Republic of Korea.

Saudi Arabia topped Group six standings after drawing 0-0 with Thailand on Thursday, while the Republic of Korea ranked second in Group Five.

For its part, Qatar, the defending champion, topped the standings of Group one with 9 full points, and will meet in the round of 16 with Palestine, which ranked third in Group Three, while Australia, the champion of the 2015 edition, will meet Indonesia.

On the other hand, the Iranian national team, which won the Asian Cup title three times in a row, topped the third group standings with a total of 9 full points, and it will meet in the round of 16 with Syria, third in the second group.

The Iraqi team, the champion of the 2007 edition, which topped Group Four, will meet Jordan, which ranked third in Group Five, while the UAE team, second in Group Three, will meet Tajikistan, second in Group One.

The rest of the matches in the round of 16 will witness a meeting between Bahrain, the leader of Group Five, with Japan, second in Group Four, and Thailand, second in Group Six, with Uzbekistan, second in Group Two.
