Where did the 2023 Asian Cup draw place the Gulf teams?

The scene of competition in the group stage of the 2023 AFC Asian Cup in Qatar has been completed, following the draw for the championship, which took place on Thursday at the Katara Opera House in the Qatari capital, Doha.

The host Qatar team, the last edition’s title holder, was drawn in Group A, along with China, Tajikistan and Lebanon.

The tournament will be held from January 12 to February 10, 2024, with seven teams that have previously won the title in the finals.

24 teams will participate in the finals, which will be divided into six groups, with each group comprising four teams.

The top two teams from each group, along with the four best third-placed teams, qualify for the Round of 16.

The teams participating in the draw were classified on four levels, according to the latest classification issued by the International Federation of Football Associations.

According to the draw, the Japanese national team, which won the tournament title four times before, came in the fourth Group along with the teams of Indonesia, Iraq and Vietnam.

The Saudi national team, which won the title three times, will play in the sixth Group which includes Thailand, Kyrgyzstan and Oman. the fifth Group included South Korea, Malaysia, Jordan and Bahrain.

The second group was strong, after it included the teams of Australia, Uzbekistan, Syria and India, while the Iranian national team plays in the third group alongside the Emirates, Hong Kong, China and Palestine.
