The Bahraini national team joins the list of champions in Gulf Cup 24. 

Doha hosted the Gulf Cup in its 14th edition in 2019, from November 26 to December 9, with the participation of all Gulf teams.

The draw ceremony was held on November 11, and the teams of Qatar, Yemen, Iraq, and the UAE were placed in the first group, while Oman, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Bahrain were placed in the second group, and the championship confrontations were held at the stadiums of the south, Abdullah bin Khalifa and Khalifa International.

The Iraqi team rose from the first group with 7 points from two wins and a draw, and the Qatari team came in second with 6 points from two wins, while Saudi Arabia qualified from the second group with 6 points from two wins and Bahrain got 4 points from a win and a draw.

 

In the two semi-final matches, Bahrain beat Iraq on penalties (5/3) after a 2/2 tie, and Saudi Arabia beat Qatar (1/0). In the final match, the Bahraini team succeeded in overcoming the Saudi team with the goal of Mohammed Al-Rumaihi, winning the first title for Bahrain in the history of its participation.

The tournament witnessed the scoring of 45 goals over the course of 15 matches, and Ali Mabkhout won the top scorer title with five goals, despite the UAE’s exit from the group stage. Abdullah Atif was the best player, and Fawaz Al-Qarni was the best goalkeeper.
