The qualification of Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Oman… the most prominent features of the qualifiers for the Asian Youth Cup

9 teams booked their places in the AFC U-20 Youth Cup 2023 in Uzbekistan, after the end of the competition in their groups on Sunday.

On the other hand, several teams are still waiting to determine the five best second-placed teams, after the Group H matches end in October.

Saudi Arabia qualified for Group A after its 1-0 victory over China on Sunday, to finish its matches with 9 points from three matches.

For its part, Qatar topped the second group standings after beating Bahrain 2-0 in its fourth match, to lead the group by 5 points against Bahrain, which came in second place.

In Group C, Japan struggled before narrowly beating Yemen 1-0, ending the competition with 12 points from four matches.

Jordan finished top of Group D with 10 points from four matches, as it tied 0-0 in the last round with Chinese Taipei.

In Group E, South Korea managed to get the full mark after beating Malaysia 6-2, to finish its matches with 9 points from three matches.

Indonesia won Group F after beating Vietnam 3-2, to finish its matches with three victories from three matches.

Oman managed to compensate for its loss in the second round against Afghanistan, to beat Thailand 1-0 in the third and final round, which gave it the top of Group G with 6 points from three matches.

Tajikistan topped Group I after beating Cambodia 2-1 in the third round, to take the lead with 7 points, one point ahead of Lebanon.

Finally, in the tenth group, the Iranian team managed to achieve the third victory in a row when it defeated the UAE in the last round, with a score of 2-0.

The second-placed teams compete for five cards allocated to the best runners-up, which will be decided at the end of the eighth group matches, as the teams of Vietnam, Kyrgyzstan, China and Syria look in good condition, while Thailand and Lebanon must wait for the results of the matches.

Group H matches will be held from 14 to 18 October, and includes the teams of Australia, Iraq, India and Kuwait.
