Al Jazira beats Perai and qualifies to face Al Hilal in the Club World Cup quarter-finals
Al-Jazira Club of the United Arab Emirates defeated Tahiti Perai 4-1 on Thursday at Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, as part of the first round of the FIFA Club World Cup in the UAE.
The goals of Al-Jazira were scored by Zayed Al-Amiri in the 5th minute, Ahmed Al-Hashemi in the 25th minute, Milos Kosanovic in the 41st minute, and Abdullah Diaby in the 63rd minute, while Al-Jazira player Mohamed Rabie scored an own goal in the 48th minute.
Al-Jazira qualified to meet in the quarter-finals with Al-Hilal of Saudi Arabia, the champions of the Asian Champions League, on Sunday, 6th of this month.
Al Jazira attacked from the start to open the scoring in the fifth minute when Zayed Al Ameri followed a cross pass and advanced on the left side before firing it into the net.
Al-Jazira’s superiority continued, as the team’s attackers missed more than one opportunity before they added the second goal after a mess in front of the goal, which Ahmed Al-Attas took advantage of and hit the goal in the 25th minute.
Then the third goal came before the end of the first half, through a direct free kick, executed by Milos Kosanovic, to embrace the net in the 41st minute.
Perai reduced the difference at the beginning of the second half with a cross pass that Al Jazira defender Mohamed Rabie tried to clear, but it turned by mistake in his team’s goal in the 48th minute.
But Al-Jazira returned to add the fourth goal by Abdullah Diaby, who followed the ball into the penalty area and shot it perfectly into the goal in the 63rd minute.
The tournament will be held with the participation of the continental champions Chelsea (Europe), Brazilian Palmeiras (South America), Al-Ahly of Egypt (Africa), Al-Hilal (Asia) and Mexico’s Monterrey (CONCACAF), in addition to the host island and Perai.
