AFC Cup: Al-Nahda of Oman qualifies for the West Final… and Al-Kahraba of Iraq loses the semi-final

After qualifying for the final match, Al-Nahda of Oman will face Al-Ahed of Lebanon, in the final of the Western Region of the AFC Cup.

Al-Nahda qualified at the expense of Bahrain’s Riffa, as the first leg, which was held in Manama, ended in a positive draw 1/1, and Al-Nahda succeeded in clinching qualification by winning the return match in Muscat 3/1, after the end of regular time in a 1/1 draw, as the two teams resorted to two additional periods. During which Al-Nahda snatched victory with goals from Hammoud Al-Saadi in the 95th minute, and Issam Al-Sobhi in the 108th minute.

On the other hand, Al-Kahraba of Iraq lost the second leg, which it hosted at Basra International Stadium, against Al-Ahed of Lebanon, on penalties 2/4.

It is noteworthy that the first leg was hosted by Al-Ahed (champion of the 2019 edition), which was held at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex Stadium in the Omani capital, Muscat, which was used as Al-Ahed’s stadium during this tournament. It ended with the visitors winning with a clean goal, but Al-Ahed in the return match succeeded in snatching a goal in the match. The 85th minute of the match, through Lee Irvin, to equalize the score and the match went to two additional periods, which did not result in anything new, and the two teams resorted to penalty kicks, which made the visitors smile, and Al-Ahed won 4/2, setting up a date with Al-Nahda in the Western Region final, which will be held next April. It consists of two round-robin matches, in the Omani capital, Muscat, and the winner qualifies to face the Eastern Region champion in the AFC Cup final.
