The Bahraini Federation announces the departure of Argentine coach Juan Pizzi

The Bahrain Football Association announced the end of its contract with Argentine coach Juan Antonio Pizzi by mutual consent between the two parties, according to the federation’s statement last Thursday.

The Bahrain Football Association announced in a press statement, “terminating the contract with the technical and administrative staff of the first national football team, by mutual consent between the two parties.”

The Bahrain Football Association added: The Federation’s Board of Directors extends its thanks and appreciation to the technical and administrative staff of the first national team led by Argentine coach Juan Pizzi during the recent period, wishing them continued success in their future journey.

The Federation’s Board of Directors confirmed that it will, during the coming period, study a number of CVs proposed to succeed Coach Pizzi “in preparation for choosing one of them, and revealing the identity of the team’s technical and administrative staff, especially with the team imminently completing its journey in the joint Asian qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup and the 2027 Asian Cup.”

The Bahrain national team was eliminated from the round of 16 in the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023 after losing to Japan 1-3.

Bahrain played in the group stage in Group Five, where it began its campaign by losing to the Republic of Korea 1-3, then beat Malaysia and Jordan respectively 1-0 to lead with six points.

The Bahraini Football Association signed Pizzi last July, and he led the team in the joint Asian qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup and the 2027 Asian Cup, defeating Yemen 2-0 and losing to the UAE by the same score.
