Qatar scores full marks in the first round of the 2023 Asian Cup

The Qatar national team won its third successive victory after defeating China 1-0 on Monday at Khalifa International Stadium in Doha, in the third and final round of the first Group competitions in the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023.

After the first half ended in a goalless draw, Hassan Al-Haydos scored the winning goal for the Qatari team in the 66th minute

Qatar topped the group standings with 9 full points from three matches, compared to 4 points for Tajikistan, 2 points for China, and 1 point for Lebanon, as Qatar and Tajikistan qualified for the round of 16, while China is waiting to determine the four best third-placed teams.

On Saturday, January 13, the first round of group competitions witnessed Qatar defeating Lebanon 3-0 at Lusail Stadium, and China tied with Tajikistan 0-0 at Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium.

On the other hand, the second round on Wednesday, January 17, witnessed Qatar defeating Tajikistan 1-0 at Al Bayt Stadium, and Lebanon tied with China 0-0 at Al Thumama Stadium.

The top two teams in each group qualify for the round of 16, along with the four best third-placed teams.
