Kamil Al-Aswad…from an international gymnast to the Bahrain team football top scorer

One of the elements of the starting lineup for Bahraini Red and Al Riffa Club, he represents one of the basic pillars of the link between defense and attack for the club and the national team.

He is the star of Al-Riffa Club, Kamil Hassan Abdullah Ahmed Hassan Al-Aswad, who was born on April 8, 1994 in Manama. He started his sports career early in school, but it was not with football, but rather in gymnastics. He participated in external activities, and also represented the Bahrain gymnastics national team, but he later turned to football. This transformation took place with his preparatory school, and in his first participation, he won the His Highness Sheikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa Championship for preparatory schools, and won the title of best player. At the age of 12 years, he joined the senior stages of Al-Ittihad Club in 2006, and remained with it until 2012, and was promoted to the first team in the 2012/2013 season.

In 2013, he moved to Al-Riffa Club, with which he continues his career until now, with whom he achieved two Bahraini League titles and the Bahraini Federation Cup in 2014. He also reached the semi-finals of the AFC Cup, and had one experience in the Sultanate of Oman for one season.

At the international level, Kamil played for the Olympic team and won the Gulf Cup for Olympic teams in 2013. He also reached the Gulf final with the Olympic team in 2011/2012. He is considered one of the main pillars of the current first team, which he joined in 2015, and has participated in 70 matches so far, scoring… 10 goals, as he participated in the 2019 Asian Cup in the Emirates, and the 25th Gulf Cup in Iraq at the beginning of this year, and qualified for the semi-final match, but lost it to the Sultanate of Oman national team, and with his remarkable brilliance during the Gulf Cup, the Iraqi Al Quwa Al Jawiya Club was quick to submit an official request to include him in its ranks. However, the contract was not completed, so Kamil remained as captain of Al- Rifa’a club.
