For the first time in the Champions League… Saudi Arabia and Iran matches in a home-and-away system

The AFC confirmed that all matches between the national teams and clubs affiliated with the Saudi Federation, as well as the Iranian Federation, will be held on the basis of a home-and-away system. This development came in the wake of the pioneering agreement between the Saudi and Iranian federations on Monday, about which the AFC was informed.

Prior to this agreement between the two federations, all matches between the teams of the Saudi and Iranian Football Federations, whether at the national team or club level, were held on neutral stadiums, according to the decision issued in 2016 by the Competitions Committee and the Executive Office of the Asian Football Confederation.

The AFC welcomed this historic step, which reflects the commitment of the Saudi and Iranian Football Federations to strengthen relations within the football community in both countries, in a way that allows clubs to host matches on their stadiums and visit the opposite team’s stadium in foreign matches, which increases the level of interaction and enjoyment experience for fans and players. .
