The draw for Gulf 25 will be held tomorrow, Tuesday in Basra, with the participation of 8 teams

The Iraqi governorate of Basra will host tomorrow, Tuesday, 25th of this month, at the Grand Millennium Basra Hotel, the draw ceremony for the Arab Gulf Cup Football Championship, in its 25th edition, hosted by the State of Iraq with the participation of 8 teams from 6-19 January 2023.

The draw will be held in the presence of representatives of the participating teams, namely Iraq, the organizing country, Bahrain, the defending champion, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the Emirates, Kuwait, Iraq and Yemen.

The Competitions Committee of the Arab Gulf Cup Football Federation, in its meeting yesterday in Basra, approved the mechanism for conducting the draw in accordance with Article 5 of the competition regulations, whereby the latest FIFA classification will be relied upon to distribute the levels of the participating teams when the draw is made, which is scheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday, at 11:00. A.m.

Iraq is hosting the tournament for the second time in its history after the first in 1979, when it hosted the fifth edition in the capital, Baghdad, at Al-Shaab International Stadium, and was crowned with its title.
The Arab Gulf Cup Football Championship is organized every two years, and its first edition was held in Bahrain in 1970, and the last in Qatar 2019. Kuwait holds the record for the number of wins (10 titles), compared to 3 titles for Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Iraq, and two titles for the Sultanate of Oman, and the Emirates, and one title for Bahrain.
