For the 16th time… Kuwait is a champion of the Emir Cup
Kuwait Club was crowned the Emir of Kuwait Cup, by defeating Kazma 3/0, in the match that was held at Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium.
The original time ended with a goalless draw, so that extra time was resorted to, during which Kuwait decided to win by three clean goals. After only two minutes had passed in the first extra period, Al-Mahdi mercifully advanced with a goal for Kuwait, then Yassin Al-Omari added the second goal from a penalty kick in the 97th minute, which coincided with the expulsion of Faisal Al-Subaie. Kazma’s goalkeeper, and at the beginning of the second extra period, Mahdi Barahma scored his second goal and Kuwait’s third.
Thus, Kuwait won the Amir Cup title for the 16th time in its history, to become equal with Al-Arabi and Al-Qadisiyah at the top of the title-winning clubs. On the other hand, Kazma was unable to defend the title that it won last season, and its tally of titles stopped at eight titles.
