Asian Champions: Al Hilal Saudi Arabia qualifies for the semi-finals to face Al Duhail, Qatar
The Saudi club Al Hilal, the defending champion, succeeded in qualifying for the semi-finals, after defeating Foolad Khuzestan, Iran, 1-0, at Al Janoub Stadium in Al Wakrah, in the quarter-finals of the 2022 AFC Champions League for the West region.
A goalless tie dominated the outcome of the match until the 87th minute, when Musa Mariga scored the precious winning goal for Al-Hilal.
In the group stage, Al-Hilal topped the standings of the first group with 13 points from six matches, with a goal difference in the direct confrontations against Al-Rayyan of Qatar, compared to 5 points for Sharjah of the United Arab Emirates and 3 for the Iranian Istiqlal, then it won in the round of 16 against Shabab Al-Ahly Dubai of the United Arab Emirates 3-1.
On the other hand, Foolad topped the standings of the third Group with 12 points from six matches, compared to 10 points for Shabab Al-Ahly Dubai of the United Arab Emirates, 5 for Al-Gharafa of Qatar and 4 for Al-Turkman Ahal, and won in the round of 16 against Al-Faisaly of Saudi Arabia 1-0.
