AFC Champions League: Al Duhail defeats Al Rayyan and qualifies to the quarter-finals

Al-Duhail Qatari club qualified for the quarter-finals after defeating Al-Rayyan by penalty kicks 7-6 after the two teams tied 0-0 in normal time and 1-1 in extra time on Sunday at Al-Thumama Stadium in Doha, in the round of 16 of the 2022 AFC Champions League.

After the original time ended in a goalless draw, Al-Duhail advanced through Muhammad Muntari (107), but Al-Rayyan equalized through Stefan Nzonzi (122 + 3).

In the penalty shootout, Al-Duhail scored seven successful attempts, while Al-Rayyan scored 6, and Al-Duhail goalkeeper Salah Zakaria saved the seventh kick, which was executed by Mowaffaq Awad.

In the group stage, Al-Duhail topped the fourth group standings with 15 points from six matches, compared to 7 points for Saudi cooperation and Iranian Sepahan and 6 for Uzbek Pakhtakor.
