He is a reputation, nicknamed the Golden Boy of the Emirates, who was born in Abu Dhabi 1983, and attracted attention to him since the beginning of his career with Al-Wahda Club, he gradually moved up until he was promoted to the first team in the 1998-1999 season, and he officially participated in the 1999-2000 season, to knock on the doors of stardom and become one of the giants of Emirati football.
Matar left Al-Wehda for a short period of no more than two months in 2009, when he moved on loan to the Qatari Al-Sadd and participated in the Emir of Qatar Cup, which is the only stage in which Matar defended a team other than Al-Wehda, despite the tremendous offers from local and foreign clubs, where he received an offer from the Emirati giant Al Ain Club, but his decision was decisive to defend “Al Annabi” Al-Sadd, with whom he won the UAE League title 3 times and the local Super Cup twice.
Matar was not the only Golden Ball award in the Youth World Cup, although it was the most important in his career, but he won many individual awards, most notably the award for the best young Arab player for the 2003-2004 season, the best player in 2007 Gulf Cup and the tournament’s top scorer with 5 goals, the historic scorer for the Emirati Al-Wahda Club and other awards.
He left a remarkable imprint with the Emirati team, as he led it to crowning the Gulf Cup title in 2007 and 2013 versions, knowing that his name began to shine in 2003 when he won the Golden Ball for the best player in the World Youth Cup.
