Saudi football has lost one of its most prominent international strikers, distinguished by scoring from headers, the top scorer in the Gulf Cup for the 2008 Olympic teams, who was called the Scorpion.
He is Youssef Al-Salem, who was born on May 4, 1985. Youssef started his football career with Al-Qadisiyah Club in 2004 until 2006, when he moved to Al-Shabab Club in 2008, before he joined in Al-Ettifaq Club in 2009, and with the start of the 2013/2014 season, he moved to Al-Hilal in a free transfer, before returning to Al-Itifaq in 2016 and from there to Al-Jubail in 2020 until his death, and during that period he joined the ranks of Al-Thaqaba in the 2020-2021 season.
Al-Salem was crowned the title of the Two Holy Mosques Cup championship with Al-Shabab 2009, and also achieved the same championship with Al-Hilal 2015 and the Saudi Super Cup in the same year.
Al-Salem played 177 matches with Saudi clubs, including 133 in the Professional League, during which he scored 58 goals and assisted 8 others.
At the international level, Al-Salem participated in 5 matches with the Saudi Greens, during which he scored 3 goals.
