Roy Pinto: My job is to build a team and our players are ready, we just need to focus
This morning, in Al Sayyab Hall at Minawi Pasha Hotel, a press conference was held for Roy Pinto, coach of the Kuwait national team, to talk about the upcoming Azraq match against his Bahraini brother in the last matches of the group stage for the second group, and Pinto said: “A very important match, we are in a situation where we must win, but we have to realize that the team is developing, our players are ready, we just need to focus, if you work well, you will win, and we hope to win tomorrow.”
People talk a lot about pressure, and we seek to enjoy the game. Every coach has a method for every match. We will try to provide a distinguished performance. Pressure is only called a cooking pot; football is a game.
Eid Al-Rashidi said: “I feel good to go into the first championship, and so do my colleagues.” We are not used to this atmosphere. We played the Asian qualifiers and the World Cup qualifiers, but the Gulf Cup has a special value, and we seek to appear well as we are the most title holders.
Pinto said, “I said it before, and I say it again: We do everything we can to develop our team, and this is my message to the players.” I focus only on my team; I study the opponent, yes, but I look for stability, harmony, and positive results.
He added: “You know, I rely on young elements; my task is to build a team, and this does not mean not competing for the championship; I take each match separately; we develop match after match and increase homogeneity and stability, and if this is achieved, we will be in the picture in terms of competition.”
Eid said: “We get support from everyone, and God willing, we will not disappoint the fans.”
Pinto continued: “In the last match, we played Shabib Al-Khalidi, an outspoken striker, and the more opportunities there are, the more goals will come.”
