The Qatari team beats the Kuwaiti team and tops its group

The Qatar national football team topped its second group in the 25th Zain Gulf Cup in Basra after defeating the Kuwaiti national team 2-0 in the match that took place at the Olympic Port Stadium in the first round of the tournament.

The Qatari team scored three points at the start of the competitive campaign in the Zain 25 Gulf Cup.

The Qatari national team was able to advance during the first half 2-0 after it took advantage of its field superiority and turned its chances in a smart way to shake the net of Kuwaiti goalkeeper Suleiman Abdul Ghafour, as Amr Serageldin succeeded in exploiting a ball in the penalty area in the 22nd minute and hitting a wonderful ball to the left of the goalkeeper to take its place in the net.

Ahmed Alaa added the second goal from a penalty kick, which the Qatari team won in the 35th minute after Tamim Mansour was fouled, and he successfully executed it to the left of the Kuwaiti goalkeeper.

The Qatari team missed other opportunities that could have increased its scoring yield, and the Kuwaiti team sought to reduce the difference through attempts in the last minutes, but it did not succeed. In general, the Kuwaiti team did not perform at the expected level, while its Qatari rivals excelled during the first half.

In the second half, the Kuwaiti team threw all its weight around in order to reduce the difference and maintain its chances of returning to the match, but the Qatari team absorbed the Kuwaiti rush, closed the outlets that led to the goal of goalkeeper Meshaal Barshim, and relied on playing rebounds. There were still some opportunities for the Kuwaiti team, but Barshim and the defense tackled them, in addition to the balls that were shot out without focus.

The Qatari team maintained its lead with two goals scored in the first half.
