Casas: We missed the final touch to win and my main goal is to qualify for the World Cup

After the end of the press conference for the coach of the Omani national team, the conference for the coach of Iraq, Casas, began, and he spoke: “Good evening to everyone. It was a difficult match. We dominated a lot, but the chances were few. The Oman national team is very good. We still have a lot to achieve.”

And about the level of the national team during the coming period: We are here to play a tournament, not one match. My main goal is to qualify for the World Cup, and this tournament is a first step, but if we are lucky, the Gulf Cup can be achieved, and if it does not happen, there is no problem at all, because the competitors also aim to win.

Regarding the lack of previous friendly matches and the short period of leadership of the team, the time was short, and it was the FIFA days that enabled us to summon all the players. We were satisfied with the training because all the players were not available.

Regarding the psychological preparation of the players, Casas explained: “I did not feel pressure on the players; the best that could have been done was done, but it is enough that the players performed without any pressure.”

When asked about the national team’s lack of a playmaker and striker, he replied: “We have players like Baish, Jabbar, and Hussein Ali in the 10th position, as well as Alaa Abbas.” We should not forget that there is an opponent in the match.

On his satisfaction with the performance, he said, “We are still far from what I hope.” We played the first quarter of an hour, followed by a rest period, and then the players started implementing my plans, but we faced a strong team and lacked patience in owning the ball.

And about the absence of a player who has individual solutions: I have no desire to talk about a player who is not present; I am talking about those who are present, and I have very good elements.

When asked about what the team lacked to achieve victory today, he replied, “We lacked calmness in rotating the ball as well as the final touch.”
