Oman national team captain Ahmed Kanoo announces his retirement from football

Former Oman national team captain Ahmed Mubarak Kanoo announced his final retirement from football after a career that lasted for more than 20 years in a series of statements he posted on his Twitter and Instagram accounts.

“Between yesterday and today, twenty years we spent in the service of Omani football, during which we tried to provide our best, and the most beautiful thing we learned from our professional opportunities—internal and external—during which we carried the dreams of the Omani street and the aspirations of the passionate people,” the player tweeted.

The beginning of our sports career was at Al-Orouba Club, after effort, giving, and sacrifice. Although the beginnings had unparalleled pleasure, the endings had unparalleled sadness.

From this rostrum, I extend my sincere thanks and gratitude to my family, who stood with me and was patient with me and everyone I accompanied in my career. I will be eternally grateful to all of my teammates from the clubs I played for as well as the national team, whose colors I wore for nearly two decades.Thank you to all the coaches who supervised my training. Thank you to all the officials. About sports in the country: Thank you to the fans who supported me throughout my career. Thank you to the media and all the media professionals.

This is by the grace of my Lord. First of all, I am proud of all that I gave to my country’s national team and my foreign professional career. My football career as a player has ended, and I will certainly continue my journey with it, but this time not inside the green rectangle. Thank you all from the heart. I see you all fine.
