Rapprochement and rejection of differences… the most important messages of Qatar at the opening ceremony of the World Cup

In a historic ceremony marked by a Gulf Arab Islamic identity, which lasted 30 minutes, and its program included 7 paragraphs, Qatar sent many important messages during the opening ceremony of the first FIFA World Cup in the Middle East in front of world leaders and football fans who flocked to Doha after it was exposed to a regional boycott and international criticism after winning its bid to host the World Football Championship.

The opening centered on rapprochement and rejecting differences through humanity and respect, as the ceremony began with the gentle voice of American actor Morgan Freeman and an Arab character with camels, stressing that everyone is welcomed. Ghanim Al-Muftah, Qatar’s Goodwill Ambassador, responded to Freeman with a Quranic verse, “O people, we created you from male and female, and made you into peoples and tribes so that you may know each other. The most honorable of you in the sight of God is the most pious of you.”

The ceremony included a performance entitled Dreamers, a new song added to the official World Cup song list, and was signed by Qatari singer Fahd Al Kubaisi and South Korean pop star Jung Kook, in a wonderful blending of cultures and arts.

The 32 participating teams were also celebrated, and the countries that hosted the World Cup previously, as well as the volunteers, and in conclusion the presentation of the World Cup mascot in its 22nd edition (a defect).

In conclusion, the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, announced yesterday the opening of the Qatar World Cup 2022 from Al Bayt Stadium, north of the capital, Doha, stressing that over the course of the 28 days of the tournament, we will follow with the whole world the great football festival in this open space for human and civilized communication.
