Nawaf Al-Temyat, former Saudi football star and FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ ambassador, expressed his aspiration for the launch of the tournament this month, pointing out that the World Cup represents an opportunity to introduce the world to our region closely, and to dispel misconceptions about Qatar and the Arab world.
Al-Temyat said that Qatar’s hosting of the championship is a unique experience presented by the Arab world with its cadres and minds, and it provided an opportunity for Arab youth to show their potential and what they can achieve on the ground, by organizing the largest sporting event in the world.
In an interview with (Qatar2022.qa), Al-Temyat, who scored 11 goals in 63 matches with the Saudi national team, said: “Everyone in the region is eager to welcome millions of fans from all over the world, to learn about our culture, traditions and ancient history, without any perceptions or prejudices.”
Al-Temyat stressed that the World Cup is not just a football tournament that will continue for 29 days. Rather, it is a global carnival in which people from all social and cultural backgrounds meet, providing an ideal model for coexistence and rapprochement between people, and learning about different aspects of the cultures of various countries.
