Qatar’s Al Annabi participates in the Gold Cup for the second time in a row

The Qatar national team will participate in the next edition of the CONCACAF Gold Cup for the second time in a row, which will be hosted by the United States of America from June 16 to July 16 next year 2023.

Concacaf had announced that the 17th edition of the competition would be held from June 16 to July 16, 2023; The date of the draw was set for April 14, 2023, and that SoFi Stadium would host the final of the tournament.

It is the seventh time that a Gold Cup Final has been held in the Los Angeles area in more than a decade, with the LA Memorial Coliseum hosting four Gold Cup Finals (1991, 1996, 1998 and 2000), while the historic Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena had hosted memorable finals in 2002 and 2011.

In addition, CONCACAF has also confirmed important details regarding the upcoming summer tournament, including the format of the 2023 Gold Cup, the fixtures and the countries that have already secured their place, and that the official draw will take place on April 14, 2023.

Historic first post

Al Annabi had participated in the last edition of the tournament, which was also held in the United States of America during the months of July and August of last year 2021, at the invitation of the Confederation of Concacaf.

Al Annabi achieved remarkable results by reaching the semi-finals, where it led the fourth group in the first round, collecting seven points, after two wins over Grenada by 4-0, and Honduras with a double without a response, and tied with Panama by three goals for the same.

Before it surpassed El Salvador in the quarter-finals by three goals to two, but it left the tournament from the semi-finals with a 1-0 loss to the US national team after a great performance, which was crowned champion after its victory over Mexico in the final.

Al-Moez Ali is the top scorer in the 2021 championship

Al Annabi’s first participation witnessed the crowning of Al-Moez Ali’s strikers with the Gold Cup 2021 Concacaf top scorer award, after he scored 4 goals in five matches. Al-Moez Ali scored two goals during the group stage matches, then added two goals in the quarter-final match, in which Qatar defeated El Salvador 3-2.
