Faisal Al-Dakhil. A golden career for the king of Kuwaiti football
One of the best 30 players of the century in Asia, he formed a golden duo with Jassem Yaqoub, who scored the first goal for an Arab Asian team in the World Cup finals.
He is the king, the icon of Kuwaiti football, Faisal Al-Dakhil, who was born in Kuwait City on August 13, 1957. He began his football career at the age of fourteen, when he joined the youth groups of Al-Qadisiyah Club, until he was promoted to the first team, to begin with it a journey of brilliance from 1973 to 1989 that will not be erased from the memory of the club’s fans, achieving with it achievements and winning championships, as he won with it three league titles and four Cups.
Al-Dakhil trained under the most famous and notable technical managers, Mario Zagallo and Carlos Alberto Pereira.
As Al-Dakhil starred with Al-Qadisiyah, his star also shone with the Kuwaiti Blue from 1973 until 1986, so he achieved with it the Gulf Cup in the 1976 and 1986 sessions, and the Asian Nations Cup 1980, and was an important element in achieving the Kuwaiti dream of ascending to the World Cup, Spain 1982, in the first qualification of the Arab Asian teams for the global wedding, and succeeded in achieving the first goal of the Blue in the World Cup against Czechoslovakia.
Al-Dakhil participated in the Gulf Cup tournaments starting from the fourth edition of 1976, in which he achieved the Kuwaiti Blue title, during which the intruder scored 3 goals. It was known as the Al-Dakhil Championship and succeeded in lifting its cup, and his last participation in the championship was in its ninth edition 1986.
He also participated with world stars in a match against the UNICEF team, to be the first Arab to participate in such global events. He announced his retirement in 1989, and the retirement match was held with the participation of Al-Ahly of Egypt, and he played the entire meeting and scored a goal with a powerful shot from a distance of 40 yards, to be his last goal.
