The President of the Gulf Cup Federation renews his full support for Iraq to host the 25th Gulf Cup
HE Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani, President of the Arab Gulf Cup Football Federation, renewed his full support for Iraq’s hosting of the “Gulf 25” competitions, which will be held in January next year.
His Excellency stressed that the Gulf Cup Federation strongly supports this hosting, as he stressed on more than one occasion that the Iraqis have the right to host this tournament, which is considered a special tournament for the people of the region.
He added: We are fully aware of the aspirations of the football fans in Iraq for the return of this championship after an absence of more than 40 years.
He concluded his speech: We are fully confident in the ability of the Iraqi Football Association in general and the city of Basra in particular to present the Gulf football forum in the best way, stressing at the same time the importance of completing all the required work on the agreed dates.
It is noteworthy that the Executive Office of the Arab Gulf Cup Federation approved, in its last meeting, the eligibility of Basra to host the Gulf Cup in its twenty-fifth edition, which will be held during the period from the sixth to the nineteenth of January 2023.
