With the participation of 3 Gulf teams .. Dammam will host the 2022 Arab Futsal Cup

The Saudi Football Association will host the sixth edition of the Arab Futsal Cup 2022, which will be held from June 20-28, with the participation of 10 teams: Morocco, the “title holder”, Egypt, Kuwait, Algeria, Iraq, Palestine, Mauritania, Somalia, Libya, In addition to Saudi Arabia, the host.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Football Association, Yasser bin Hassan Al-Mishal, welcomed the delegations of the participating teams, wishing them a pleasant stay in their second country and presenting a strong championship that contributes to developing the levels of Arab teams in the game.

Al-Mishal extended his thanks and appreciation to His Highness, the President of the Arab Football Association, His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, for giving the Saudi Federation the opportunity to organize the tournament, praising the great excellence and qualitative work that the Arab Federation is witnessing by organizing a number of tournaments, whether at the level of teams of different age groups or on the club level.

The draw for the Arab Futsal Cup was held last week in Riyadh, and its results resulted in the national team taking the lead in the third group, along with the teams of Palestine and Libya, while the first group included Morocco, Kuwait, Mauritania and Somalia, while the second included the teams of Egypt, Iraq and Algeria.

Three teams from the first group qualify, while the leaders and runners-up of the second and third groups, in addition to the best third in the two groups mentioned, advance to the quarter-finals.

The sports halls in Dammam will host the championship matches, as the tournament will open on June 20 with the match between Morocco (the title holder) with Kuwait at two in the afternoon, before the match between Mauritania and Somalia will be held at four thirty, while the match between Egypt and Iraq will be held at seven in the evening to conclude matches on the opening day with the match between the Saudi team, the host, and its Palestinian brother.

It is noteworthy that the quarter-final matches will be held on Friday, June 24, while the semi-final matches will be held on Sunday, June 26, and the final match will be held on Tuesday, June 28.

The Arab Cup Futsal Championship was launched for the first time in 1998, when Egypt hosted it with the participation of 8 teams, and then the owners of the land were crowned with the title, before Egypt returned and hosted the second edition in 2005 with the participation of 8 teams also to be crowned by the Egyptian team.

Libya hosted the third edition in 2007 with the participation of 7 teams, where the owners of the land won the title, to return to Egypt and host the tournament in its fourth edition in 2008 with the participation of 9 teams, where the Libyan team was crowned, while the last “fifth” edition was held in 2021 in Egypt with the participation of 8 teams and the team was crowned Moroccan.
