Al-Shaheen elected president of the Kuwait Football Association by acclamation

Abdullah Al-Shaheen Ahmed Al-Rubaie was nominated for the position of president of the Kuwait Football Association in the elections held last Friday, succeeding Sheikh Ahmed Al-Yousef, to become the 12th president of the Kuwait Football Association.

After its meeting, the General Assembly resulted in Abdullah Al-Shaheen obtaining 11 votes out of 12 votes. Jamal Al-Kazemi, the former president of the Arab Club, and Fawaz Al-Hasawy had previously announced on Thursday that they would withdraw the papers of their nomination in the elections, so that the acclamation would be Abdullah Al-Shaheen’s ally in the elections.

The statute stipulates that the winner must receive half the number of votes in addition to one vote from the total votes of the General Assembly.

Ahmed Oqla and Hayef Al-Mutairi won the position of vice presidents for administrative and technical affairs, and financial affairs and investment, and obtained 13 votes.

Mansour Pasha, Jamal Al-Otaibi and Abdulaziz Al-Samhan were also elected for the three membership seats, receiving 13 votes, while the women’s seat went by acclamation to Fatima Hayat, the only candidate with 11 votes.
