Al Shabab and Al Faisaly win at the AFC Champions League

The Saudi Al Shabab club won the second successive victory after beating Al Jazira of the United Arab Emirates 3-0 last Monday at Prince Faisal bin Fahd Stadium in Riyadh, as part of the second round of Group B competitions in the 2022 AFC Champions League.

Carlos Junior (6 and 78) and Turki Al-Ammar (18) scored the winning goals for Al Shabab Club.

The second match in the same group on Monday also saw India’s Mumbai City beat the Iraqi Air Force 2-1 at King Fahd International Stadium.

Al Shabab led the group standings with 6 points from two matches, compared to 3 points for Mumbai and Air Force One, while Al Jazeera’s balance remained devoid of points.

The third round of group competitions will be held on Thursday, where Air Force meets Al Shabab, and Al Jazira meets Mumbai City.

On Friday, the first round saw Al Shabab beat Mumbai 3-0 and Air Force Club Al Jazeera 2-1.

The first-placed team in each group, along with the best three second-placed clubs in the Western groups, qualifies for the Round of 16 for the West Asian Zone.

Saudi Al-Faisaly club succeeded in making up for its delay to win against Qatar’s Al-Sadd 2-1 last Monday at Prince Muhammad Bin Fahd Stadium in Dammam, in the second round of Group E competitions. Al-Sadd advanced through Hassan Al-Haydos in the fourth minute, before Al-Faisaly responded with two goals through Hisham Fayek (16) and Julio Tavares (54).

Nasaf topped the group standings with 4 points from two matches, with a goal difference against Al-Faisaly, compared to one point for Al-Sadd and Al-Wehdat,
The third round of group competitions will be held on Friday, where Al Sadd meets Al Wehdat, and Nasaf meets Al Faisaly.
