Al-Fahd Al-Asmar is the top scorer in the UAE national football team for more than 25 years
Fahd Khamis, or as he is known as Al-Fahd Al-Asmar, the former historical scorer of the UAE League, which he has held for more than 25 years.
He was born on January 24, 1962, and is one of the stars of the UAE national team’s attack line. He played throughout his football career at Al-Wasl Club from 1980 to 1997.
Fahd Khamis retired from football in 1997, and his football career witnessed many achievements. Over the course of 17 seasons, the legendary Fahd Khamis won the UAE League title 6 times in 1982, 1983, 1985, 1988, 1992 and 1997.
Fahd Khamis scored 175 goals in 230 matches in the UAE League, and was named the greatest scorer in the history of the competition throughout the ages, before his number was broken by Ali Mabkhout.
Fahd Khamis participated with the Emirati Al-Abyad in 4 copies of the Gulf Cup, during the period from 1982 to 1990. He is the second best scorer for the Emirates in the Gulf Cup with 10 goals, which came against the teams of Oman, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Bahrain, and was crowned top scorer in the eighth Gulf Cup in 1986 with a score 6 goals.
He also participated with the UAE national team in the 1990 World Cup in Italy in the Colombia and Yugoslavia matches.
Throughout his football career, which extended from 1981 to 1990, he played 82 matches with the UAE national team, during which he scored 37 international goals.
Ali Mabkhout, the UAE national team striker, succeeded in breaking Fahd Khamis’ record during the 2019 Gulf Cup, after he scored a hat-trick against the Yemeni team, to win Al-Abyad 3-0, after which he became the UAE national team’s historical scorer in the Gulf Cup tournaments with 13 goals.
