Al Hilal of Saudi Arabia loses to Chelsea in the semi-finals of the Club World Cup

Al Hilal Saudi Club, champions of the 2021 AFC Champions League, lost to Chelsea, the champion of the European Champions League, 0-1, on Wednesday, at Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, within the semi-finals of the Club World Cup in the Emirates.

Romelu Lukaku scored the precious winning goal for Chelsea in the 32nd minute of the match.

Chelsea will meet in the final match on Saturday with the Brazilian Palmeiras, who beat Al-Ahly of Egypt 2-0 on Wednesday, while Al-Hilal will meet Al-Ahly in the third and fourth place match on Saturday as well.

Al Hilal is participating for the second time in the World Championships, and it reached the semi-finals in 2019 before losing to the Brazilian Flamingo 1-3, and finished fourth after losing the match for third place on penalties against Monterrey of Mexico.

The European champions automatically participate in the semi-finals, while Al Hilal entered the quarter-finals, winning a big victory over the host Emirati Al Jazira 6-1.
