The Iraqi Football Association sacks Petrovic from coaching the national team
The Iraqi Football Association decided today, Wednesday, to relieve the coach of the first team from his position after extensive discussion of the team’s negative results in the Asian qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup, and to entrust the task of coaching the national team to a local coach who will be named next week.
The decision of the federation came after the meeting that was held at the headquarters of the federation, in the presence of the Minister of Youth and Sports, the president of the federation, Adnan Darjal, the first vice president of the federation, Ali Jabbar, the second deputy, Younis Mahmoud, and members of the executive office.
Among the decisions that emerged from the meeting is the formation of a committee with expertise and competence that includes a group of academics, coaches and former players to develop strategic plans aimed at improving the reality of the national teams.
