A fruitful meeting of the General Assembly of the Arab Gulf Cup Federation

His Excellency Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani, President of the Arab Gulf Cup Football Federation, chaired a meeting of the Ordinary General Assembly of the Federation today, Thursday, December 16, in the presence of the heads of the Gulf Football Associations and secretaries.

The meeting was attended by His Excellency Salem bin Saeed Al-Wahaibi, President of the Omani Federation and Vice President of the Arab Gulf Cup Federation, His Excellency Sheikh Ahmed Al-Yousef Al-Sabah, President of the Kuwaiti Federation, His Excellency Sheikh Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, President of the Bahraini Federation, His Excellency Yasser Hassan Al-Mashal, President of the Saudi Federation, His Excellency Adnan Darjal Matar, President of the Iraqi Federation, His Excellency Abdullah Nasser Al-Junaibi, First Vice-President of the Emirates Federation, Dr. Hamid Muhammad Al-Shaibani, representative of Yemen, and Mr. Jassim Sultan Al-Rumaihi, Secretary-General of the Federation.

The meeting discussed topics on the agenda and taking appropriate decisions in order to serve Gulf football. The minutes of the previous meeting and the administrative and financial reports were also approved, and some proposals were discussed.

Following the end of the General Assembly, Jassim Sultan Al-Rumaihi, Secretary-General of the Arab Gulf Cup Federation, confirmed during a press conference that the meeting was fruitful, and witnessed the discussion of many items related to the future of Gulf football, including fixing the date of the Gulf Cup for national teams.

Al-Rumaihi indicated that the file of Iraq’s hosting of the Gulf 25 was not discussed, as this issue was previously discussed, regarding Iraq’s readiness, and the availability of hosting requirements.

Jassim Al-Rumaihi explained that the previous extraordinary general assembly decided that the championship would be in Iraq in the city of Basra, with Kuwait as the alternative country.

He pointed out that any country wishing to host, there are conditions and criteria sent to it, and a file is prepared for hosting to be presented to the Arab Gulf Cup Federation.

Al-Rumaihi stressed that the meeting was of great value with the presence of all the heads of the federations, and this is considered a gain for the Arab Gulf Cup Federation.

As for the other championships of the Arab Gulf Cup Football Federation, Al-Rumaihi said: “Dr. Hamid Muhammad Al-Shaibani, head of the competitions committee in the federation, was assigned to present a study in coordination with the Gulf federations to establish the upcoming championships for clubs and teams of the age groups.”
