Al Gergawi celebrates the Asian office and the Gulf Basketball Federations

Major General Ismail Al Gergawi, President of the UAE and Arab Basketball Federations, held a lunch party at his farm in the Emirate of Dubai in honor of the members of the AFC office and the secretaries of the Gulf Basketball Federations, following the two-day coordination meetings in Dubai, in which Hagop Khacharian, Executive Director of the International Federation of Asian Continent, participated. Secretary General of the AFC, Salem Al Mutawa, Secretary General of the Emirates Federation, Dr. Munir bin Habib, Technical Director, Dr. Ali bin Salam bin Ali Al Yarubi, Vice President of the Omani Federation, Rabie bin Saeed Awlad Thani, Secretary General, Abdul Rahman Hussein, Secretary of the Kuwaiti Federation, Youssef Hussein Amin, Secretary of the Bahraini Federation, Saadoun Al-Kuwari, Secretary of the Qatar Federation, Abdulelah Abdul Rahman bin Shehail, Executive Director of the Saudi Federation, Christina Tanoukhi, Director of the Development Department of the AFC, and Executive Secretary Adeline Cavallian participated in.

Hagop Khacharian stated that the meetings focused on programs and championships of last year and this year, noting that the AFC office meets with representatives of the six regions of the continent, separately, with the aim of reviewing the programs of the federations and seeking to develop performance and productivity. Khacharian revealed the abolition of the organizing committees in the GCC countries that were under the umbrella of the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council and only the Olympic committees will remain, provided that they are replaced by a coordinating body comprising representatives of all the six Gulf federations in addition to the Secretary-General who is agreed upon by those federations.

He concluded that the opportunity is ripe for the formation of this body during the coming period, especially since the UAE is hosting the Arab National Team Championship, as well as the meeting of the General Assembly to elect a new board of directors for the Arab Federation, during the next month.
