Officially … The Dutchman, Dick Advocaat, is the new technical director of the Lions of Mesopotamia

The normalization body of the Iraqi Football Association has completed the official agreement with the Dutchman, Dick Advocaat, to succeed the Slovenian Katanic in the technical leadership of the first team. Advocaat will begin his work in the coming days.

The Dutchman, born on September 27, 1947, is one of the prominent coaches on the European arena. He started his career at the age of 32 and led the Dutch mills on three occasions. He also coached Zenit St. Petersburg, Russia, Fenerbahce of Turkey, and Sunderland of England. He also took over the technical leadership of the teams of Serbia, South Korea and the Emirates, as well as the Russian national team.

Advocaat is awaiting important milestones, most notably the decisive qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, the Arab Cup, and the Gulf Cup.
