The Asian reviews the Saudi Arabia march in the Asian qualifiers
The Asian Football Confederation reviewed the march of the Saudi national team in the double Asian qualifiers for the final qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup and the 2023 Asian Cup.
The AFC report indicated the success of the Saudi team after occupying the top place of Group D with 20 points from six victories, two draws and no loss, scoring 22 goals against four goals in its net.
The report mentioned that despite their faltering start in the second round of the qualifiers with a 2-2 draw against Yemen, the journey to collecting points began by winning twice over Singapore 3-0, over Uzbekistan 3-2, 3-0, a 0-0 draw with Palestine and a win 5-0, and also a win against Yemen 3-0.
Salem Al-Dosari is the top scorer for the Saudi team in the qualifiers, after scoring five goals, compared to four goals for Salman Al-Faraj and Fahd Al-Mawlid, three in favor of Al-Shehri, two for Abdel-Fattah Asiri, and a goal for Ali Al-Hassan, Yasser Al-Shahrani, Abdullah Al-Hamdan and Hattan Al-Bahbri.
The report, which dealt with the career of French manager Herve Renard, coach of Saudi Arabia, confirmed the success of his mission in the qualifiers so far. It is one of his most important tasks since taking office in August 2019, in his first experience outside the borders of Africa for the 52-year-old coach after distinguished stations in the football fields with Zambia, who won the 2012 African Nations Cup with him, achieved the same feat with Ivory Coast in 2015, and qualified for the 2018 World Cup with Morocco.
The report also dealt with the most prominent achievements of the Saudi team in reaching the World Cup finals five times in the past, the most prominent of which was when it was present for the first time in 1994 and qualified for the round of 16, while bidding farewell to the competition from the first round in 1998, 2002, 2006, 2018.
Al-Akhdar also won the Asian Cup three times in 1984, 1988, 1996, and the same number of runners-up in 1992, 2000, 2007.
