Saudi Arabia’s coach: I take responsibility for the loss

Saudi Arabia coach Hervé Renard expressed his regret to the media attending the press conference after his team’s match against Kuwait in the Gulf 24 championship, which ended with a heavy loss (3-1).

“The result is not good. We got a lot of opportunities that we did not take advantage of, most notably in the first ten minutes of the match, but in the end I take full responsibility for the loss.” said Renard.

As for his opinion on the performance of the Kuwait team during the game, he said: “I am not their coach. What happened is that we got opportunities that we did not exploit, while they took advantage of their chances in front of the goal. If we scored at the beginning of the match, the whole game would have changed.”

“We came with the group that can win, but there may have been a negative impact on the late arrival of the players. In fact, I am concerned about qualifying to the World Cup. I do not deny the importance of this tournament, but this is football,” he said.
