De Sousa: We faced a stubborn team

Bahrain coach Hélio Filipe de Sousa highlighted the challenging match against Oman which ended with a goalless draw.

“It was a tough game against a very stubborn team. We showed up distinctly. We completed what we started working on; we had good players and we had the ability to create opportunities. We could have scored in the last 15 minutes of the game,” he said in the post-match press conference.

Regarding the quality of the players against Oman today, De Sousa said: “Many of our players are not from the first team. We had three well-known players, but the game went well for this group. We were close to achieving a positive result but it was a bad luck.”

“We have the potential to win any game. We have faced challenges against Oman, but given that our team has prepared it in five months, it is good to show this level if we compare ourselves to a team like Qatar, which started preparing more than 10 years ago, or the Omani team whose history is known to everyone and also they were the champions of the last edition.”

The Bahrain coach concluded by stressing that he will start preparing for the next game, and will give it the necessary focus.
