Arrangements completed for The 24th Gulf Cup

The local organizing committee of the 24th edition of the Gulf Cup has confirmed that all the arrangements for the championship in Doha have been completed during a press conference held on Thursday at Khalifa International Stadium to reveal the latest information and updates related to the tournament.

The conference was attended by Mr. Khalid Al-Kuwari, Director of Marketing Committee of the Local Organizing Committee; Mr. Jassim Al-Jassim, Director of Facilities and Bodies Department of the Local Organizing Committee; representatives from the Qatari Ministry of Interior; and Hamad Mohammed Al-Zakiba, Director of Culture and Arts Department at the Ministry of Culture and Sports.

Al-Kuwari said that the sale of tickets, which was been on the website of the Gulf 24, is witnessing an increasing demand every day. He pointed out that the tickets have been introduced in many shopping malls to provide opportunity for the largest number of audiences to buy their tickets. Tickets were also launched in Kuwait and Oman.

Jassim Al Jassem, Director of the Facilities and Bodies Department of the Local Organizing Committee, said that Gulf 24 will be held in two stadiums – Khalifa International Stadium and Abdullah Bin Khalifa Stadium at Al Duhail Club. An opportunity to familiarize football fans with the close proximity of Qatar’s World Cup.

For his part, Hamad Mohammed Al-Zakiba, Director of Culture and Arts Department at the Ministry of Culture and Sports, said that many events will be organized on the sidelines of the Gulf 24, through the launch of several cultural activities related to the arts and heritage, specific to the Gulf region.

Al-Zakiba said that many different events shall be held and popular teams will perform on the sidelines of the tournament, stressing that families and fans who will attend will find a lot of events, especially as they are keen to provide a variety of events in a dedicated area around the stadium for the audience to follow, in addition to organizing a comic play with the participation of many artists from Arab countries.

Meanwhile, First Lt. Salim Mubarak Al Buainain, traffic leader at the stadiums, emphasized the need for fans to reach the stadiums at least two hours before the start of the match to avoid the expected overcrowding at gates and ensure easy entry and exit to and from the stadiums.

Al-Buainain said that they, in coordination with the Traffic Department, will ensure the public’s access to the stadiums in a smooth manner.

Salem Mubarak Al Buainain pointed out that new routes will be allocated to Metro Link service, which is a bus service dedicated to transport passengers to and from metro stations from neighboring areas. Users can also view available routes around the stations through the Rail application or their website.
