Omani without its historical guard in the Gulf

West Bromwich Albion goalkeeper Ali Al Habsi has announced in an interview with the local press that he will be absent from the 24th Gulf Cup after their game against India during the qualifier round for the World Cup in 2022.

Al Habsi played for the first time against Bahrain on 29th January 2002 in the 15th Gulf. After that he participated in four consecutive tournaments and established himself as the best goalkeeper (Gulf 16, 17, 18 and 19) to break the Gulf record in the tournament.

Al-Habsi missed the Gulf Cups 20 in Yemen and Gulf 21 in Bahrain. He then participated in Gulf 22 in Saudi Arabia in November 2014, while Gulf 23 in Kuwait two years ago witnessed again his absence in the tournament in which the red won the tournament for the second time in its history.
