Al-Rumaihi: We value Arab participation in the Gulf 24 but no team from outside has been invited
Jassim Al-Rumaihi, Secretary General of the Arab Gulf Cup Federation, said that there is no minimum number of teams participating in the next Gulf Cup – Gulf 24 – hosted by Doha during the period from November 29 to December 9, according to the extraordinary General Assembly resolution held in Doha, September 19.
Regarding what was published in some social media sites about invitations by the Arab Gulf Cup Federation for Arab teams to participate in the Gulf 24, Al-Rumaihi said: “We are proud of all the Arab teams, but no union was addressed from outside the Gulf Cup Federation to participate in the Gulf 24, because in order to do so we need to make changes in the regulations”.
Al-Rumaihi revealed that the members of the General Assembly at the last meeting decided to postpone the consideration of these amendments to the next meeting – the General Conference – to be held on the sidelines of the Gulf 24 in Doha, in order to give the specialized committee more time to study the items and amendments that will be applied starting from the Gulf 25.
