Dr. Jassim Al-Shukaili, Vice-President of the Gulf Football Association, made a press statement after the conclusion of the Ordinary General Assembly meeting held in Doha, in which he said:
“The General Assembly of the Union was held at a very important stage, with the presence of five presidents and representatives of unions. The most prominent thing that took place was the election of the president and vice president for the next term, as everyone followed, in accordance with the recommendation of the teams where the vote was unanimous.”
He explained: “This was the focus of the meeting today, and also the budget of the Gulf and the activities of the next phase were discussed, in particular the upcoming Gulf Cup.”
On the possible absence of some teams for the upcoming tournament, he said: “As we mentioned that the stage is very important, so we have to redouble the effort and strive for the presence of all the Gulf teams as in previous tournaments, and we hope to succeed in this aspect.”
On the challenges of the next phase, the Vice-President of the Gulf Cup Federation said: “The Gulf Federation was born to continue and founded on the foundations and positive data and the desire and conviction of the people of the Arab Gulf region, Iraq and Yemen, so we hope that the presence of the current Council will constitute a move to add to the past period, which aim to develop the work of the Union. ”
“We have to look forward to the upcoming activities and events in the region, most notably Qatar hosting the World Cup. We have to support Qatar because the event is of interest to the whole region. Although they proved their ability to host the event, our stance with them is very important.”
