Qatar and the UAE ensure their qualification for the 2027 Asian Cup and the third round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers
The Qatar national team qualified for the third round after beating Kuwait 2-1 away at Sabah Al Salem Stadium in Kuwait, in the fourth round of Group one competitions in the second round of the joint Asian qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup and the 2027 Asian Cup in Saudi Arabia.
Al-Moez Ali scored Qatar’s goals in the 77th and 81st minutes, while Mohamed Dahham (79) scored Kuwait’s goal.
Qatar moved away at the top of the group standings with 12 points from four matches, compared to 4 points each for India and Afghanistan, and 3 points for Kuwait.
The fifth round of group competitions will be held on June 6, where Afghanistan will meet Qatar in Kuwait, and India will meet Kuwait.
The first round witnessed Qatar’s victory over Afghanistan 8-1 in Doha and India over Kuwait 1-0 in Kuwait, while the second round witnessed Kuwait’s victory over Afghanistan 4-0 in Dammam and Qatar over India 3-0 in Bhubaneswar, and the third round witnessed Qatar’s victory, they beat Kuwait 3-0 in Doha and Afghanistan tied with India 0-0 in Abha.
The UAE national team also secured qualification to the third round after defeating Yemen 3-0 at Prince Saud bin Jalawi Stadium in Al-Khobar, in the fourth round of Group Eight competitions in the second round of the joint Asian qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup and the 2027 Asian Cup in Saudi Arabia.
Fabio Lima (14 and 22) and Sultan Adel (35) scored the winning goals for the UAE national team.
The UAE maintained its lead in the group standings with 12 full points from four matches, compared to 9 points for Bahrain and 3 for Yemen, while Nepal’s balance remained devoid of points, as the UAE secured qualification to the third round and obtained a qualification ticket to the 2027 Asian Cup in Saudi Arabia.
The fifth round of group competitions will be held on June 6, where Nepal will meet the UAE, and Bahrain will meet Yemen.

The Saudi national team advanced through a goal by Firas Al-Braikan in the 46th minute, before Tajikistan equalized through Rustam Surov (80).
Saudi Arabia maintained its lead in the group standings with 10 points from four matches, compared to 7 points for Jordan and 5 for Tajikistan, while Pakistan’s balance remained devoid of points.

The Oman national team renewed its superiority after beating Malaysia 2-0 over Bukit Jalil National Team in Kuala Lumpur, in the fourth round of Group four competitions in the second round of the joint Asian qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup and the 2027 Asian Cup in Saudi Arabia.
Omar Al-Maliki (45 + 4 from a penalty kick) and Muhammad Al-Ghafri (90 + 4) scored the winning goals for the Omani national team.
Kyrgyzstan leads the group standings with 9 points from four matches, on goal difference against Oman, compared to 6 points for Malaysia, while China Taipei’s score remains devoid of points.
The fifth round of group competitions will be held on June 6, where Kyrgyzstan will meet Malaysia, and China Taipei will meet Oman.
The first round witnessed Oman’s victory over China Taipei 3-0 in Muscat and Malaysia over Kyrgyzstan 4-3 in Kuala Lumpur, while the second round witnessed Kyrgyzstan’s victory over Oman 1-0 in Bishkek and Malaysia over China Taipei 1-0 in Taipei, and the third round witnessed Oman beat Malaysia 2-0 in Muscat and Kyrgyzstan beat Chinese Taipei 2-0 Gaoxiong.
