Kuwaiti League: Al-Arabi and Al-Qadisiyah begin the tournament stage with victory
Al-Arabi advanced to the top of the overall standings of the Kuwaiti Football League after defeating Al-Nasr by three goals to one at the start of the first round of the tournament stage, which includes six teams along with Al-Qadisiyah, Al-Salmiya, Al-Kuwait, and Al-Fahaheel.
The Kuwaiti league competition system stipulates that the first six teams on the general ranking list qualify for the championship stage, where they play among themselves in the league system in order to decide the title, while the remaining four teams play among themselves in the league system also in order to determine the identity of the two teams that will advance to the first division.
Al-Arabi’s goals were scored by Bandar Salama (4), Ayman Sfaxien (37), and Imad Eddine Boubacar (49), while Al-Nasr’s only goal was scored by Hansel Zapata (90+4), raising the winning team’s score to 45 points, one point ahead of Kuwait. Who dropped to second place after tying with Al-Fahaheel 1-1.
Kuwait did not maintain its lead with a goal by Youssef Nasser (45 from a penalty kick), as friendly fire contributed to the team’s faltering after Fahd Al-Rashidi accidentally scored in his team’s goal the equalizer for Al-Fahaheel.
Al-Qadisiyah achieved a major victory over Al-Salmiya with four goals scored by Ibrahima Tandia (43), Abdul Rashidi (51), Barad Al-Mutawa (69) and Mubarak Al-Fanini (88), versus two goals scored by Al-Senussi Al-Hadi Mahmaj (20) and Abdul Mohsen Al-Turkmani (90 + 1).
The first round of the relegation group will be held on March 31, when Al-Shabab plays with Khaitan and Kazma plays with Al-Jahra.
