Iraqi League: Al-Quwa Al Jawiya and Al-Shorta falter, narrows the gap
Leaders Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya stumbled to a draw against Amanat Baghdad with a goal each, sparking a struggle for the top spot in the Iraqi football league after the end of the nineteenth round, which witnessed the victory of second-placed Al-Shorta over Al-Karkh by four goals to one.
Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya did not maintain its lead with a goal by Ibrahim Bayesh (13), as Reda Fadel scored the equalizer for Amanat Baghdad in the 61st minute, as the difference was reduced to 3 points with Al-Shorta, who beat Al-Karkh with four goals scored by Mahmoud Al-Mawas (15 and 90 + 3). Hussein Ali (24) and Abdul Razzaq Qasim (62), versus a single goal that came from Saleh Jumaa (45 + 2).
Al-Naft defeated Al-Qassim with three goals scored by Okeke Oflabi (64), Ammar Ghaleb (73) and Walid Karim (90 + 2), compared to two goals scored by Siaka Bagayoko (3) and Seif Al-Din Zahir (88).
Al-Talaba outperformed its Najaf counterpart with two goals scored by Mahmoud Suwaied (58) and Nihad Muhammad (90) versus a single goal, which came from Muhammad Daoud (77). Al-Zawraa won over Al-Mina’ with three goals scored by Ali Sadiq (44), Ahmed Jalal (48), and Murad Muhammad (75) against a single goal scored by Karar Jaafar (90+5).
Al-Kahraba won over Naft Basra with three goals scored by Mohaimen Salim (49), Mahmoud Khalil (59) and Shafiu Mumuni (79), against a single goal scored by Bonsu (87). Naft Maysan achieved a clear victory over Karbala with a clean triple scored by Alaa Al-Dali (73 and 90) and Sajjad Jabbar (82).
Al-Hudood turned its deficit against Nawroz with two goals scored by Claudio Oliveira (40 and 49) into a triple win, which came through Dacosta (51 and 62) and Muntadhar Adel (67), and Erbil tied with a goal by Helio Montero (29) with Dohuk, for which Kabar Karim scored (57). Zakho tied with Naft Al-Wasat without goals.
