Al-Ahly wins the King of Bahrain Cup
Al-Ahly team won the Bahrain King’s Cup on Saturday evening, after defeating Al-Muharraq on penalties 4-2.
The match ended in a 1-1 draw in regular time and extra time.
Al-Ahly won the sixth title in its history in the King of Bahrain Cup, while Al-Muharraq is the most successful with 19 titles.
For the first time, Al-Ahly defeated Al-Muharraq in the final match of this tournament, as the latter won all five previous matches, 3 of which were called the Emir Cup.
Al-Ahly took the lead with an early goal in the 6th minute, scored by Wellington Machado, who dribbled past Muharraq defenders inside the penalty area before slotting into the net.
During the second half, Al-Muharraq equalized in the 85th minute through substitute player Hussein Abdul Karim after the ball reached him inside Al-Ahly’s penalty area.
With this coronation, the Al-Ahly team won 100,000 Bahraini dinars as the champion award, while the Muharraq team will receive 50,000 dinars.
