Bahrain revives its hopes by defeating Malaysia

The Bahrain national team achieved a hard-fought and late victory over Malaysia with a score of 1-0 on Saturday at Jassim bin Hamad Stadium in Doha, in the second round of the fifth Group competitions in the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023.

The goalless draw dominated the outcome of the match until the fifth minute of stoppage time in the second half, when Ali Madan scored the valuable winning goal for the Bahraini national team.

Jordan maintained its lead in the group standings with 4 points from two matches, on goal difference against the Republic of Korea, compared to 3 points for Bahrain, while Malaysia’s balance remained devoid of points.

The third and final round of the group competitions will be held on Thursday, January 25, when Jordan will meet Bahrain at Khalifa International Stadium, and the Republic of Korea will meet Malaysia at Al Janoub Stadium.

On Monday, the first round witnessed Jordan defeating Malaysia 4-0 at Al Janoub Stadium, and the Republic of Korea defeating Bahrain 3-1 at Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium.

The top two teams in each group qualify for the round of 16, along with the four best third-placed teams.
