Bahraini Red faces a difficult confrontation at the opening of the Asian Cup

The Bahraini Reds will begin their campaign in the Asian Cup Qatar 2023, with a strong confrontation against South Korea, within the fifth group matches, which includes, alongside them, Jordan and Malaysia.

During its previous 6 participations in the Asian Cup, Bahraini Red’s best results were in the 2004 edition in China, which was its second, where the team qualified for the semi-finals and lost to the defending champion Japan in the semi-finals after 3/4 extra time, then lost the third place match to Iran 2/4.

In this participation, Bahrain is relying on the experiences of its Argentine coach, Juan Antonio Pizzi, in Asian football, who took over his leadership in July of last year, and has a good history, as he coached Valencia of Spain, Racing of Argentina, Al-Wasl of the UAE, and the Chilean and Saudi national teams, in order to achieve a new achievement for Bahraini football in the Asian Cup.

After the first group stage matches today, Bahrain will meet Malaysia on January 20, then Jordan on January 25.

On the other hand, Bahrain’s opponent, South Korea, is participating for the 15th time out of 18 editions of the continental championship, and is one of the teams that won the title, having achieved it in the first two editions. 1956 in Hong Kong, and 1960 at home, and it also came in runner-up four times, but South Korea enters this edition under the leadership of the German veteran Jurgen Klinsmann, with the ambition of achieving the title that has been absent for 63 years, relying on his experiences after leading the German national team, which he led to third place in the 2006 World Cup. He also coached the United States national team between 2011 and 2016, winning the Gold Cup in 2013.
